Susan Weimer, DPT, PT
As a medical writer, I feel that my skills have been enhanced by a strong foundation in clinical therapeutics and critical analysis. With a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I have a solid educational background that complements my writing expertise. My published medical writing includes online articles in Endocrineweb.com and Endocrinologynetwork.com, where I have been able to effectively communicate complex medical concepts to non-medical readers. I continue to use this skill on LinkedIn by writing about medical technology and current healthcare issues in language easily understood by non-medical LinkedIn professionals.
My professional experience includes roles as diverse as adjunct professor in the PTA Program at Indian River State College to medical writing/editing for a Japanese company that included audio recordings of my voice in order to help university medical students improve their English-speaking presentations. A highlight of my role as a medical writer was as an assistant writer for a regulatory affairs specialist, where I covered topics such as nephrectomy, fibromyalgia, diabetes, and neuropathic pain for journal publication. I am committed to staying informed about current medical developments and scientific literature through my membership in the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and my certifications in Essential Skills and The Role of the Regulatory Writer.
More recently, I made the decision to expand my medical writing into B2B medical content. To this end, I received a certificate in Mastery of White Paper Writing from AWAI in November 2023 and completed a 12-hour course on B2B Content Writing from the same organization. I have since become a member of AWAI in order to take advantage of their numerous training programs and to maintain best practice writing proficiency.
In my pockets of free time, I can be found reading science fiction, painting watercolors, boating with my husband on the intercoastal, or camping in our motorhome.
